THE KEEPERS CIRCLE
INAUGURAL PROJECT | Òrìṣa Healing Art
In partnership with the University of African Art, we support the preservation & proliferation of the distinct cultural and healing practices of two generations of women priestesses and shrine painters in Ilé-Ifè, a town in South Western Nigeria.
Our support of Àkòdì Òrìṣa, includes the development of a network of sacred spaces that support the work, practice and expansion of the second generation of these women artists - who are now Guild fellows. Two spaces have already been completed: A studio and healing center for the women, and Ọ̀yẹ̀kú Méjì, a dome like structure, built by the women using innovative designs and materials which explore indigenous African traditions, that will serve as a home for sacred art.
